With the knowledge that most children can learn to read, be academically successful in school, and go on to do well in life, Kelly is constantly inspired by the growth and potential she sees in children around her, knowing that the right instruction will get them far. Kelly works for Step By Step Learning as a Content Writer and Developer, where she develops an online web portal to teach parents how to work with their preschool-age children, to prepare them to be academically successful in school. Kelly also previously worked as an Educational Consultant for Step By Step Learning, where she coached teachers on implementing best practices in teaching reading. She is an experienced teacher and reading specialist, having taught Title I Reading Intervention, 2nd Grade, and Preschool, and maintains a small roster of students she continues to tutor.
Kelly received her Master’s Degree in 2006 as a Reading Specialist, and her Bachelor’s Degree in 2003, with a dual-major in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, both from California University of Pennsylvania.
With the belief that a well-rounded life creates a happy individual, Kelly holds many interests. Her biggest commitment outside of SBSL is as the Co-Chair of a non-profit arts center, The Phoenix Arts Center, where she volunteers much of her time serving on committees, is also a dance instructor, and chairs the annual major fundraiser for the arts center annually, called Dance for Dreams, which she founded in 2012. Kelly loves dance and music, enjoys working out, golfing in the summer, and hitting the ski slopes as much as possible in the winter. She lives with her husband and longtime sweetheart, Dylan, and their very humorous cat, Mia Bella.
