Small Group Automation Tool:
The Small Group Automation Tool can be used to support all students in an MTSS framework. As an intervention, teachers utilize the skill inventories to determine the earliest foundational skills that are in need of development. As a supplement to the core, teachers can use the skill inventories to target specific needs as well as select skill lessons that correspond with core instruction to support differentiated small group instruction. The scripted lessons are found in Structured Literacy to support teachers in delivering high quality instruction. The direct link between assessment and lessons supports teachers more effectively and efficiently to meet the needs of individual students.

The Step By Step Learning® Small Group Toolkits were designed to support the development of effective teachers. The kits: Phonological Awareness and Beginning Decoding, are complete with all materials needed for small group instruction, enabling teachers and reading specialist to teach phoneme awareness and early to advanced word identification skills. Carefully scripted lessons, which can supplement any reading program, serve as the means for learning how to explicitly and systematically teach the most basic yet important early reading skills so that every child learns to read.
