Wendy has spent her career supporting, educating and advocating for the education and welfare of children and adults. Her career began teaching, mentoring and counseling disadvantaged and troubled youth from kindergarten through high school, in a variety of private and public educational settings. These experiences led her to set her sights on promoting literacy for all children. After teaching in a special education setting for 22 years, Wendy worked the next 14 years of her career as part of a Technical Assistance and Consultation team, taking the lead for MTSS, promoting best practices in the classroom, as well as trainer for LETRS and DIBELS Next. It was during this time that she felt the need to focus on positive change with like-minded professionals in order to effect positive outcomes for students. Wendy firmly believes that the ability to read opens new doors and empowers students. Thus, accepting a position with SBSL.
